Have you ever wondered what the numbers on motor oil means? Well our team of automotive experts here at Honda of Hayward wanted to be sure to make you aware that these are actually oil viscosity ratings. An example of this rating is 5W-20. This means that at a cold temperature, the oil has a rating of 5 and at a hot temperature has a viscosity rating of 20. A more viscous liquid will move far slower than a less viscous liquid. Heating up the motor oil makes it less viscous which means the second number will always be higher than the first in the oil labeling.

?Are you still unsure of exactly what kind of motor oil your car, truck or SUV requires in order to operate at its maximum efficiency? Then be sure to either give us a call to schedule an oil change or stop on by to see us at Honda of Hayward today!
