What Does the Car Alternator Do?

The alternator under the hood of your vehicle does more than many realize. It is a common misconception the alternator only charges the battery.

Without the alternator running in a peak state, your car ride would be far less enjoyable. The alternator charges itself when the vehicle is running, by way of a belt attached to the block of your car engine.

Once the car engine is running, the alternator springs to action to make sure that you have all those little luxuries that you may be taking for granted.

The alternator is responsible to power the windshield wipers, car exterior lights, dash gauges, entertainment system, all the charging stations throughout the interior, the air conditioning, the defroster, and even the heat as the cooler weather arrives.

The best thing you can do to help extend the life of your vehicle is getting it down to Honda of Hayward for it's next scheduled service appointment.
